Good Morning Jackie

I Woke up one day awhile back to Mason standing by my bed phone in hand saying that Jackie needed to talk to me. With a semi coherent hello I was introduced to Jackie the 911 operator letting me know that Mason had reported the spoiler from the van missing and he had been outside looking for it and in pseudo conscious haze had to explain that Mason was autistic and that he had lost a spoiler for toy car and had been obsessed with finding it. At the same time we had sold our van some time ago and he was still concerned about where it had gone and maybe thought they were together. Jackie was very understanding and had apparently been on the phone with Mason for some time trying to assess the situation followed by a protracted discussion about the purpose of 911and when he should and shouldn't call before getting him to turn the phone over. This followed on the heels of a  week of obsessing about the loss of the spoiler at school. As the story goes Mason lost the spoiler  in the playground and was inconsolable. His principal, be the amazing sport that she is, offered to make an announcement the next day. As it turned out he ended up being absent missing the following day and expected to hear it on his return on Friday. Not hearing a plea to find the  spoiler in the morning announcements Mason bolted from the classroom to the office to tell the principal to make the announcement. Before his aid could stop and catch up with him she found him in the hallway with the principal on the way back to the classroom immediately following which she made a school wide announcement asking anyone finding the spoiler to return it to the office. In the end we solved the problem by simply going to McDonald's and getting another car. Sometimes the people's good intentions are more consequential than intended but it is the spirit of their intentions that matter. We have immense gratitude for those who strive to understand and stretch their perceptions beyond their current paradigm and even greater gratitude for having children in our life who provide us with a never ending supply of stories to tell
